Great Longstone

The village of Great Longstone is situated at the heart of the Peak District, the UK's oldest National Park and is much less 'touristy' than it's more famous neighbour Bakewell.

The village, famous for its ancient 'cross' on the small green near The Crispin Inn, remains a farming community and Church Lane Farm continues to produce its own milk which can be purchased at the tiny dairy near the Norman church of St Giles.

House history

Holmcroft was originally the home of Jack Adams, the uncle of current owner Henry Adams, who was bequeathed the property on his close relative's death in 1986. Henry lived with his Auntie and Uncle in the house for 4 1/2 years during the Second World War and prefers to keep the house in a sort of 'time warp' in memory of times long gone. But that's just how Henry and his wife Pat love it!

Henry's uncle Jack was secretary of the Bakewell branch of the National Farmer's Union as well as secretary of the famous Bakewell Show in the late 1940's.

See photographs for an idea of exactly how the property looks today!
