This beautiful studio accommodation has been tastefully renovated by the owner and was the original milking parlour for Wormhill Hall Farm. It has retained some original features and is set within the owner's grounds with stunning views out across the surrounding countryside.

The cottage is on the ground floor and has a seating area outside and is situated just across the road from the footpath to River Wye in Cheedale. It has a fabulous location and is close to many interesting walks right on the doorstep.

The sleepy village of Wormhill is a beautiful little village with a traditional village green an old church and a stunning hall. It is steeped in history, and it is thought to have originally been named Wolfhill because of the many wolves which roamed the nearby woods.

Location

Barn Cottage is centrally situated, 5 miles from Buxton with its Opera House and 8 miles from the lovely market town of Bakewell,, famous for its puddings – don’t call them tarts!

The famous Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall are within a few minutes drive of Bakewell as are caverns at Castleton and the towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath. Here you will find Gulliver's Kingdom, The Heights of Abraham and lovely walks alongside the river. A truly idyllic location in a lovely peaceful village.

The River Wye follows the Wye Valley, rising above Buxton flowing eastward through Bakewell before finally joining the Derwent at Rowsley. This is perhaps Derbyshire’s prettiest river with its limestone uplands and superb dales. Wormhill is set between Chee Dale and Monks and Peter Dales.

We provide a good selection of information on local attractions plus a large scale map for walkers to use. Why not try a circular walk straight from the door taking in both Dales with lunch at the Anglers Rest in Millers Dale half way round?

At Monsal Dale the valley widens, the steep sided Monsal Head provides spectacular views over the valley before the river reaches Ashford-in–the-Water, passing beneath what was a medieval packhorse bridge and then again at Bakewell where there is a 13th century bridge with five gothic arches before reaching Haddon Hall.

The old market town of Buxton nestles in the Derbyshire hills and at a height of 1,000 feet above sea level it is one of England’s highest towns. Its fame as a health spa dates back to Roman times.

Bakewell has an equally ancient past being mentioned in the Doomsday Book and probably also occupied by the Romans. This beautiful, small market town is situated on the River Wye and has many pleasant walks from the bridge to the town centre where there are many shops, pubs and restaurants and one of the oldest markets in the area, dating back to 1300.

The renowned Bakewell Show takes place on the first Wednesday and Thursday of August, attracting both the farming community and visitors from all over the region and beyond.
